Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is a growing concern in our community. It affects public health, harms the environment, and creates unnecessary costs for cleanup. The Town of Windsor is committed to keeping our neighborhoods clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

🚫 What Counts as Illegal Dumping

It is unlawful to place any items, regardless of condition, in the following locations:

  • Curb or sidewalk

  • Public right‑of‑way

  • Vacant lots or open spaces

  • Private property you do not own

Leaving items out “for others to pick up” is still considered illegal dumping or littering.

🌱 Our Commitment to a Cleaner Community

Town staff actively monitor known dumping sites and work to reduce illegal dumping through:

  • Community education

  • Enforcement of Town ordinances

  • Providing convenient disposal and recycling options
